If you’re thinking of starting to get in shape again after a break you need to take it easy and ease your way back into an exercise program. If you’ve never done a press up don’t blast the gym in a bid to get in shape overnight. You need to start slowly and develop exercise as a habit, otherwise chances are you’ll remember how hard the gym was and never go back. Or worse still – get an injury and spend weeks recovering. So, sit back and have that extra biscuit while you contemplate getting fit instead of actually doing anything! Not really just testing!
Starting an exercise program can be a huge shock though, and you need to begin at a level which you can maintain throughout the weeks and months to come. Losing weight and obtaining the much desired six pack is another matter altogether, but once you have got the ball rolling it’s completely within grasp.
Using a few principles in order to lose weight and get your body back in shape again is better than only having one set of routines. For starters you will get bored of your routine so will need to keep changing it and having a few ‘tools in your box” so to speak will definitely help you to keep the ball rolling. Working on cardiovascular exercise like running, cycling and swimming, for example is a great way to get fit but alone it won’t necessarily shift the excess fat. By lifting weights, either your own body weight, machines or free weights, you are helping your body to increase its metabolism and keeping the furnace fired up at all times.
If you also factor in a shift in your diet, no matter how small to start with, you are using many ways to increase metabolism, take regular exercise, lower calorie intake and burn body fat. Provided you do these things in the right way and with the correct knowledge, you are in for a much easier time of it than simply pounding the pavement. Mike Geary has put together an excellent course which has simply not been beaten. He is specialist in the area of fat loss and weight control and I heartily recommend his course.
